noasobi essey scene 13“ A Night with a Full Stomach ”

On the final night of a one-week camping trip, we decided to use up all the food supplies that we had left.
Potatoes, carrots, onions, tomatoes, sausages, and the rice that was left over from lunch, etc.
We put it all into a pot and set it to boil.
We also put in the little soy sauce and bean paste that we had left, and salted it.
After about forty minutes, we began our supper.

But there was far too much for three people to eat and the flavor left something to be desired.
But we didn't want to throw it away.
We set out to consume it in a loquacious atmosphere.
And finally, we found ourselves in a taciturn mood as we moved our chopsticks from the food to our mouths.

As the night deepened, we somehow succeeded in emptying the pot.
It was sighing rather than burping that came out of our mouths.
